Ruth uses the medium of encaustic wax which reacts on its own to heat and flame in a reflection of the powers of the natural world. Creation with encaustic wax is an eerie collaboration between the artist and the energy of the wax itself. The work evolves as if in a spell calling for engagement with energies outside itself.
